Message From The President
On Sunday, October 4th, 2009, the DFW community will witness the grand spectacle of the 4th Annual Diwali Mela (I think I can call it 'Annual' now!) organized by DFWICS at the New Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas .
Our plans for this year’s mela include more entertainment for children, expanded cultural activities on the outside stage, longer and louder fireworks, a locally designed and built over 35’ Ravan, to name just a few. The Ramlila, showcasing the life of Lord Rama, with greater fanfare of over 200 adult and child artists will be presented. Additionally, a special stage for the Ras Garba will be set up.
In addition to our plans for the entertainment, we have also revamped our booth layout to make it easier for both you and the vendors. We also plan to have multi fare food court to tantalize your taste buds with all kinds of delectable treats.
Besides organizing the Diwali Mela, DFWICS is committed to serving the community in other ways as well. Currently, we are sponsoring two Primary Care Clinics which provide health care services to the uninsured.
We are also spending a lot of time, effort and resources to ensure security, parking, and traffic control because we want our guests to be free from any safety concerns as they enjoy and have fun. We would like to thank the staff at the New Cowboys Stadium, and the City of Arlington, who are helping us in this effort, in advance.
Finally, many of you have opted to join us as volunteers, and there are still many others who have shown interest in volunteering. Please join us to make this a memorable and rewarding event for yourself and the community. I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to all those volunteers.
Our goal is simple: to create a magical memory for you, your family, your business, and your organization. Come, participate and enjoy.
Before I close, I would like to covey my sincere appreciation to my team who are working selflessly to make this a memorable event for the community to come together and enjoy!!
Happy Diwali Greetings to all.
